After Ukraine's surprise drone assault on Russia, new attention drawn to sensitive sites stateside

FOX News

After Ukraine launched a sudden drone assault on Russian installations, it brought new attention to the U.S.' own vulnerabilities, regardless of which side the U.S. stood on Kyiv's attack. In recent years, Chinese Communist Party-linked entities have commercially targeted land around the U.S., including in the vicinity of sensitive installations like the Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The Fufeng Group's 300-acre farmland purchase in 2021 first raised the collective antennae of Congress to such under-the-radar transactions – and even Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis swiftly banned them in his state as a result, among other efforts around the country. On Tuesday, North Dakota's senators agreed that the U.S. must remain vigilant for any malign activity, whether it be from relatively novel drone assaults to potential espionage through real estate transactions. An explosion of a drone is seen in the sky over the city during a Russian drone strike, amid Russia's attack on Ukraine, in Kyiv, Ukraine, on April 24, 2025.

REVEALED: The UFO sightings taken seriously by the US government

Daily Mail - Science & tech

A'flame in the sky,' eerie red glowing objects and swarms of UFOs over military bases are just some of the many sightings that have gravely concerned the US government. There are dozens of unsolved cases going back to the 1960s that occurred over nuclear missile installations, Navy ships and a desert in New Mexico. The FBI, CIA, and other government branches have spent years looking into these reports, but have yet to determine what the objects were and where they came from. One report in 2019 detailed how'drones' appeared over Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Kansas as locals reported spying a mothership hanging in the sky. In just the last few months, the skies over New Jersey were filled with unidentified aircraft and drones that required a formal response from both the Biden and Trump presidencies.

Interactive map reveals disturbing pattern in drone sightings across the US

Daily Mail - Science & tech

An interactive map has revealed a disturbing pattern in drone sightings across the US. An unexplained drone invasion has targeted America's military bases worldwide since October, beginning with a swarm over Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. The pattern became evident when similar activity was reported over New Jersey's Picatinny Arsenal on November 18. Less than one week later, US bases in England and Germany began grappling with incursions by'small unmanned aerial systems.' Back in America sightings were gaining traction. 'Multiple' instances of drones appeared over New Jersey's Navy weapons station, and Ohio's Wright-Patterson Air Force Base closed its airspace due to similar activity on December 13.

Officials respond to drone sighting near major Air Force base in Ohio: 'Taking all appropriate measures'

FOX News

Ocean County, New Jersey Sheriff Michael Mastronardy shares how he launched his own drones to learn more information about the mysterious drones hovering over his state on'Your World.' Government officials have responded to the recent drone sightings near an Air Force base in Ohio on Monday, noting that the incidents appear unrelated to the unusual sightings in the Northeast. The drones were seen near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Greene County over the weekend. Following the sightings, the base closed its airspace for four hours on Saturday. According to its website, Wright-Patterson is "headquarters for a vast, worldwide logistics system, a world-class laboratory research function, and is the foremost acquisition and development center in the U.S. Air Force." In a statement to Fox News, Robert Purtiman, Chief of Public Affairs of the 88th Air Base Wing, confirmed that officials were aware of the drones.

NJ drone incidents spur government push for more counter-drone powers as current authorities set to expire

FOX News

Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., joins'America's Newsroom' to call out the Defense Department for failing to act in response to the mystery drones that have sparked concerns over national security. The mysterious drone phenomenon centered in New Jersey has prompted government officials to issue fresh calls for expanded power as their counter-drone authorization is set to expire this week. The current drone-countering authorities -- authorized as part of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 -- grant both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) authority to use advanced detection technologies to identify, track and intercept drones that aren't complying with the law. The 2018 measure exempts the agencies from other laws that prevent interference with aircraft and wiretapping without a warrant. It expires on Dec. 20, and lawmakers must attach a last-minute extension to a stopgap spending bill to fund the government this week in order to prevent a lapse.

UFO swarms filmed buzzing over Area 51 and other US military sites for months after 'mothership' encounter

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Scores of new witnesses have emerged with more footage of the eerie'drone' UFO swarms buzzing key US military sites, including'a big fireball in a cube' over Area 51. The Las Vegas-area witness who reported this bizarre cube-shaped object claims to have observed similar strange aerial lights in the area'over 100 times' since June 2020, adding that these craft'always seem to head towards Nellis Air Force base.' Nevada's Nellis base and its sprawling complex about 40 miles northwest of Vegas -- including top secret Area 51, now legendary within UFO lore -- appear to have faced incursions by craft similar to those that plagued the Air Force in Virginia. For at least 17 nights last December, swarms of noisy small UFOs were seen'moving at rapid speeds' and displaying'flashing red, green, and white lights' within the highly restricted airspace over Virginia's Joint Base Langley–Eustis. Vegas natives have posted videos confirming they too have seen more than one red, green or white UFO that'wasn't flashing like a regular aircraft [or] like a satellite.' Another witness, who documented one September 4, 2024 case from their own 60-night experience with the odd lights, hoped coming forward might help get answers.

Drone swarms targeting US military bases are operated by 'mother ship' UFO, claims top Pentagon official

Daily Mail - Science & tech

A retired, senior Pentagon official has confirmed that UFO'mother ships' were spotted'releasing swarms of smaller craft' -- adding further mystery to the still-unexplained intrusions over multiple US military bases. His statements come amid the release of 50 pages of Air Force records related to provocative'drone' incursions, that one general calls'Close Encounters at Langley.' For at least 17 nights last December, swarms of noisy, small UFOs were seen at dusk'moving at rapid speeds' and displaying'flashing red, green, and white lights' penetrating the highly restricted airspace above Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Senior ex-Pentagon security official Chris Mellon told DailyMail.com'Two of the notable aspects,' he said, 'are the fact our drone signal-jamming devices have proven ineffective and these craft are making no effort to remain concealed.'
